Become a member of Lejre Land of Legends’ Friend Association!

The Friend Association of Lejre Land of Legends (“Sagnlandets Venner i Lejre”) have since they were founded had an association of interested volunteers which aims to spread knowledge of the location and actively support the unique work of research and dissemination that takes place in Lejre Land of Legends.

“Sagnlandets Venner i Lejre” is an offer for everyone who is interested in the idea and activities in Sagnlandet Lejre – for young and old, singles and families, working and retired people. You are very welcome as a member.

“Sagnlandets Venner i Lejre” has its own board and is structured in activity guilds according to time period or type of craft. The board and the guilds take care of the Friends’ Association’s work.

As a member you will have the opportunity to become a part of the helper-group in connection with large and small audience activities and maintenance projects, as well as participate in various events specially organized for Sagnlandets Venner i Lejre.

Membership to Sagnlandet Venner i Lejre is renewed automatically every year on March 1st. Every year, in January, members will receive an e-mail about the fact that their membership will be renewed during the year. If you need to cancel your renewal, this e-mail will contain a direct link where you can cancel the membership or perform any changes.

Membership in Sagnlandets Venner i Lejre is DKK 255,- for adults and DKK 150,- for children between three and eleven.

As a member of the Friends’ Association, you get:

– Free access to Lejre Land of Legends the entire season
– A discount of DKK 10,- on entrance tickets for your guests (max. 6 at a time)
– 20 % discount on Lejre land of Legends’ own produced items
– Interesting lectures at the annual meeting in March
– Participation in “effort”-weekends (Spring and Fall) + lunch
– Invitation to the annual party in August
– Offers on member events and excursions
– Newsletters and membership magazines ASK and flyveASK which are published 5-6 times a year

Guilds and groups for active members

If you want to take part in pleasantly active work with others, you can join one of our guilds or join a working group. They perform regular ongoing tasks in different areas of Lejre Land of Legends, but can also take on larger individual tasks.
What needs to be done is decided by Lejre Land of Legends’ area leaders or the volunteer coordinator as part of Lejre Land of Legends’ work plan. On guild days – which are usually held on the second Saturday of each month – project descriptions are handed out and tasks are distributed. If you are a member and would like to be active, you can see the contacts here. OBS: COVID-19 has cancelled all guild days until it is defensible to hold them.

The Stone Age Guild in the Stone Age area Athra

Works with dissemination, clothes and tools from the Stone Age.

The Stone Age Guild is currently under reconstruction.

The Iron Age Guild in the village Lethra

Works with the maintenance of the Iron Age environment in the village of Lethra and the sacrificial bog, fence braiding, shoe sewing and much more. As a guild member, you can receive direct emails from the guild.

Viking Guild on Ravnebjerg

Works within a timeperiod aound 920 AD. The members of the guild act as itinerant craftsmen and day laborers.

The Garden Guild in Harpestrengs Have

Takes care of Henrik Harpstreng’s garden from the 1200s, the dyer garden and the garden by the pottery. See more on the webpage www.harpestrengshave.dk about activities and excursions and get direct e-mails from the guild.

The Forging Guild in the historical workshops

Regular guild days, the second Saturday of the month and in addition approx. twice a month all year round. In age we range from 14 – 74 years. As a member, you can receive direct e-mails from the guild.

The group in the Rural Houses (“Landbohusene”)

Landbohusene:
The group of friends at Landbohusene assists with the maintenance of buildings and areas and meets on the second Saturday of the month.

Other tasks:

Volunteer coordinator: Peter Rahbek Poulsen.
Includes, among other things, restoration of houses, fencing and help with events. The assignments are announced in ASK and flyveASK.

WE NEED YOU!

The Friends’ Association’s interest and great practical assistance is a huge support for Lejre Land of Legends, which needs a large and committed friends’ association, which supports the work and research in our ancestors’ way of life, with activating storytelling and nature experiences for both children and adults. 80% of the membership fee goes to Lejre Land of Legends, which provides free admission, good discounts and exciting membership events. The last 20% goes to the friends association. The board uses the funds as much as possible for materials and courses that can develop the members’ knowledge and skills and benefit Lejre Land of Legends.
