With a VOLUNTARY DONATION YOU SUPPORT:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n- A non-profit, self-employed trade fund:<\/strong> <\/span>Sagnlandet Lejre – Historisk-Ark\u00e6ologisk Forsknings- og Formidlingscenter is a self-employed trade fund founded in 1964.<\/strong> The center’s financial basis is provided by a combination of own income and grants from government grants as well as occasional contributions from private and public foundations and project pools.<\/li>\n
- Sagnlandet Lejres statutory purpose\u00a0(\u00a7 2)<\/strong>:\u00a0“to run a research center for conducting ethnological, historical and archaeological experiments, conducting related research tasks, and to disseminate the results through scientific channels and through active dissemination and teaching<\/em>.” All our revenue is used towards this end.<\/li>\n
- Sagnlandet Lejre’s mission:<\/strong> “I will try and I understand<\/em>.” We want to create and disseminate knowledge and wonder about the past way of life through experimental and archaeological research, revival and teaching based on active participation for both children and adults.<\/li>\n
- Sagnlandet Lejre’s values: Diversity, Understanding and Responsibility<\/strong>. We assume that all people have roots in a specific culture and that all are creating history and made from history with a shared responsibility to how our future civilization will be shaped. With our basis in archaeology and history, we will take a look at our contemporary times with perspective. Therefore, we base our values on:\n
\n- Diversity<\/em> – because history shows humanity’s cultural diversity, and humanity’s self-understanding of themselves and of the world around us.<\/li>\n
- Understanding<\/em> – because history shows us the connections between peoples’ cultural background and their social, natural and utilization of resources.<\/li>\n
- Responsibility<\/em> – because we should learn from the past actively and reflect on the sustainable management of cultural and natural heritage in shaping the society of the future.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n
- A knowledge and educational activity center<\/strong>. Sagnlandet Lejre is classified by the Danish Ministry of Education as one of Denmark’s 16 Knowledge Educational Activity Centers (vidensp\u00e6dagogiske aktivitetscentre, VPAC). The 16 VPAC constitute the essential institutions that disseminate knowledge within: “… the technical & scientific and the philosophical areas that are not museums, which represent an alternative and complementary dissemination of difficult-to-reach phenomena and concepts – and whose concept is based on knowledge dissemination through the active participation of the public.<\/em>” (www.uvm.dk)<\/li>\n
- An attraction of national interest.<\/strong> Sagnlandet Lejre is selected by the Danish National Board of Culture (Kulturstyrelsen= as one of the 200 specially selected sights of national interest and bearing the brown St. John’s Cross.<\/li>\n
- A non-profit institution.<\/strong> Sagnlandet Lejre has been approved by SKAT as a general charitable \/ non-profit institution under section 8A of the Tax Assessment Act. Therefore, donors may deduct gift amounts in their taxable income within the limits set by section 9A of the Tax Assessment Act.<\/li>\n
- An inclusive workplace<\/strong>. Sagnlandet Lejre employs about 60 full-time and seasonal employees, craftsmen, educators, archaeologists, students, and others, representing approx. 31 working years. In addition, Sagnlandet Lejre counts volunteers from the association Sagnlandets Venner.\n
\n- Sagnlandet Lejre contributes to an inclusive labor market and is an internship location for people in rehabilitation, work testing, wage subsidies and educational internships for primary schools, youth education, etc.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n
- A professional-led institution:<\/strong> The Director of Sagnlandet Lejre refers to an unpaid board with scientific, tourism and attraction, financial, managerial and political skills:<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
